Santorum Watch

It's a good time to plug a PA site as we gear up for 06- Santorum Watch
Value- added bonus: contributors list, where you'll find such weirdness as the HJ Heinz company's 5K mingled with the NRA, GE, GM, and MLB's respective contribution G's.
Follow the money on Accuweather and you will no doubt turn up some controversial dirt on public weather broadcasting. Follow the money to the stem cell issue, or nuclear energy...take some time to give it a look.

Synopsis:

"Santorum criticizes Weather Service"

"Has sponsored bill to prevent government weather notices, to benefit private companies, including donor"

Saturday, September 10, 2005
By Maeve Reston, Post-Gazette National Bureau

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Rick Santorum, who has sponsored legislation to limit the information that the National Weather Service can provide to the public, told radio reporters this week that Congress should investigate whether the federal agency's initial warnings on the severity of Hurricane Katrina were adequate. (see story)

Li'l Ricky has been pounding this drum since April (when he first introduced the bill). This latest bit about "adequate" Katrina warnings is just more slimy spin. I swear I don't know why anyone would deliberately vote for this man.

Well yes, slimy spin, but people need to be aware of the relationships between NWS, his donor friends at Accuweather, and how this translates into his positions on warning practices for the public good.

Right.
I comment as I do, because the article makes no mention of the fact that Santorum's assualt on the NWS began many months ago. By not presenting the full story, the Post-Gazette may led some to believe that Katrina actually has some relevance here.

Well I think I committed a bloggery faux pas and assumed there to be more background on this OUT THERE and that the pre-katrina was a given. My bad. Apparently bitch IS back. I hang my head in blogpost shame...

Don't grovel. I post under the "We read lots so you don't have to" deal. Chances are this isn't big news to many, but in case it was.... well... there ya go.

But thats the deal at Hydrogen and Stupidity. I am warm and fuzzy ...and you are, well... bitchy. :) Its a welcome change because I am a reformed bitch, more than happy to plop my exhausted attitude ass down on the couch for a while and let you smite the population. meow.
