Like a kid at Christmas

Woo hoo! I've just unpacked and plugged in my shiny new iMac.
Yes, I have made the Great Defection, having reached my limit of frustration with the PC. I bought a Sony Vaio just a year ago, and while it's generally been ok, it's become sluggish and sticky in the last few months, despite my concerted efforts at housekeeping, tweaking & optimizing.
My gloriously wonderful husband, actually, is the one that nudged me toward the Mac, probably as much out of a desire for me to stop bitching as anything else!
At any rate, I'm wandering around, getting acclimated and set up, so if I'm short on posting for a couple of days, please don't hold it against me. I refer you, as always, to the blogroll. Some of the smartest people on the web are parked over there.

:) Happy Monday!

How cool! And how cool that you've blown past 3,000 hits.

On an unrelated topic, Chuck Pennacchio is speaking next weekend near me about the Iraq war. I'm planning on attending. I'll let you know what he says.

You'll be glad you crossed over to 'our side".

I'm already thrilled. What the hell did I put this off for??

LOL, you can blame it all on Dr. Bill ;-) He has done this to several innocent folks who ask his sage advice. Converting the masses, one comp at a time. He actually showed your beloved his toys, and that night you got the nudge.

We'd actually been talking about it for a while, but decided to put off incurring MORE debt just now. So, if I'm going to blame Dr Bill for anything, it's for the additional payment!

New iMac? The one with the remote?

I am sooo jealous!

BTW- get ready to have it for a long time. I still have the iBook I bought nearly 5 years ago when we were in the Bradbury. It's still going strong, through several OS upgrades. It shows no sign of slowing down, either.

Yep :) That's the one. (though I confess to not yet having an occasion to use the remote). I LOVE IT. I had at least 8 apps running today, including multi-tabbed browser, and noticed only a nano-second delay loading a blog thread with 300+ comments. That would have brought my PC to a near-comatose crawl.
-happy dance-

Glad to hear another assurance of lifespan. I've been through 1 desktop and 2 laptop PCs in that time.
