Independent Investigation? Surely You Jest.

Left: "We need to figure out what's wrong with our disaster response system and FIX IT!"

Right: "Don't play the blame game, this is no time for partisanship".

Why, do you suppose, when every Republican is busy dressing up in gossamer centrist costumes, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM voted against this bill?

To establish a congressional commission to examine the Federal, State, and local response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Region of the United States especially in the States of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and other areas impacted in the aftermath and make immediate corrective measures to improve such responses in the future.

It couldn't POSSIBLY have anything to do with partisanship, could it?

Thanks to DavidNYC.
